Catering to different student needs

So, I was very proud of my first 'flip' and realised this week that I have a student in one of my classes who is completely deaf.

This made me think about my introductory sessions to each unit AS WELL as my 'flip' supporting material.  Most of my intro google slides I talk through with students and the presentation will usually contain you tube videos to help students with a deeper understanding of the context.  For example, for our Tivaevae screen printing unit, I show a video that talks about Tivaevae and it's significance etc...

The BEAUTY of you tube is that there is a subtitles option which I need to be aware of when this particular class is watching the support material.  So, with my koauau video I checked out the subtitles while watching it.  I realised that Māori words aren't really recognised and that is my next challenge.
