Flipped Level 1
I am now Flipped Learning Certified (Level 1) and have the badge to prove it. Whoop whoop!
I found some things in the course interesting. The question I kept asking myself was "How could flipping benefit my visual art classes?" Technology is the key to flipping well... if you don't have the technology it makes flipping difficult, even in-flipping. By technology I mean student access to devices AND finding best ways to record the flip vids.
I have 5 laptops available to students in classes that range from 14 students up to 25 students. The only time I have found the 5 laptops useful is when students who missed a lesson can watch the flip videos showing a technique so I can move forward with the rest of the class and then go back later to the students who missed a class. Some students come to class with their chrome books which is helpful also (when they remember to bring them).
I do think I could benefit from flipping snippet art lessons for fast finishers. A bank of flip videos would come in handy for students who complete all set tasks and I could easily set up a space for them in the cloak bay on the tables.
Anyway, my next goal is to: Find a suitable tripod to set up iphone for recording from birds eye view. Then I will create some carving lessons (whakairo designs) onto clay (would be helpful during koauau unit to remind students correct techniques) and finally to create a fast finisher activity students can in-flip!
