New Inquiry... on the

On reflection of my first year as a specialist teacher I continue to LOVE my position.  There was great feedback from my students who filled in the "Ms T's evaluation' google form.  I had wonderful feedback from colleagues and whānau about the artwork created, so a positive year all around.

HOWEVER... I am currently thinking about ways to improve learning outcomes and as much as there was positive comments about last years art, I feel that it was very teacher driven and 'surface' learning.  By that I mean - "What did my students learn during their 12 lessons in art spec?  'What skills did they take away?' and could they transfer any of the learning into other areas of their life?

I plan to create a google form for my year 8 students and ask this very questions and I am REALLY interested in their thoughts - I am currently in a dilemma of wanting more for my students.  I have reached out to other specialist teachers at intermediates around NZ and it may even be valuable reaching out even further (globally) ' I am looking at 'other' ways of doing things and interested for students to have more input and ownership in their art work.
